Purpose & Vision of HOPE “I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the orphan who had no helper. The blessing of the one ready to perish came upon me, and I made the widow’s heart sing for joy.” -- Job 29:12-13 The Purpose & Vision of HOPE in a nutshell: To be used of the Lord to touch as many needy and brokenhearted children, widows and lives as possible during our short opportunity here on this earth. And that through it all, He would be recognized and honored by those who have been touched, and by all who are connected with this work. Continue reading below for a more detailed explanation.
What a great thing it would be if the world could see all the Body of Christ demonstrating the compassion that Job had: delivering the poor and the orphans, and bringing joy to the widow. One of the unique characteristics of HOPE is that it is not operated merely as an orphanage, but as a family. The love of Christ compels the leadership of HOPE to do more than just feed, clothe and educate the needy children that come. Buelah is Mommy, Devasahayam Daddy, and the HOPE children call all the other relatives the same thing that Buelah’s natural children would call them. But along with that love comes commitment and responsibility for the future of these children. True love and commitment won’t simply send them back to their villages when they reach a certain age, but will help them get established in life. Our greatest desire is that the HOPE children learn to find God’s will and calling for their lives, and follow that call. AS FOR THE WIDOWS, there are millions around the world that seem to be forgotten: lonely, rejected by family and society, many times in a helpless situation to even survive. HOPE began feeding a few widows one meal a day in October 2006. Since that time, the response of people giving to support this ministry to widows has been phenomenal, and we can see their countenances beginning to change. As the compassion of Christ moves through human vessels, the Scripture is again and again being fulfilled: “I made the widow’s heart sing for joy.” VISION: With tens of millions (some estimates run from 40 to 100 million) orphans in the world, and probably far more widows than that, it’s difficult to keep the vision small. But HOPE is in the Lord’s Hands, and as He touches the hearts of His people to give and pray, then we will do all He enables us to do. Because of the desire to maintain a family environment for the children, the number of children at HOPE will never be large. At this writing in mid-2009 there are 30 plus children in HOPE, and may not exceed 40-45 at any one time in one orphanage. He could lead us to start other orphanage/families in future days, especially as the present children in HOPE get older and desire to work with needy children as well (many already have the desire to be used of Christ to minister to hurting people).
“Now to Him Who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” --
Ephesians 3:20-21
